Participation in Business Research Innovation Initiative
We are proud to announce that the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science has selected Avinium to participate in its pilot program, the Business Research and Innovation Initiative.
The program provides funding for novel and innovative solutions to five challenges identified by government agencies as persistent obstacles for service delivery.
Avinium applied to address a problem faced by the Australian Transaction Reporting Centre (AUSTRAC), Australia’s specialist financial intelligence unit and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), the agency supporting law enforcement intelligence efforts for serious and organized crime.
These agencies produce a significant number of intelligence information products each year, but lack the capability to track in detail how, and by whom, those products are used. We are confident that our proposal will give AUSTRAC and ACIC the capability they need to focus their efforts on areas that deliver the greatest real-world value.
The initial stage of the BRII program involves demonstrating the feasibility of the proposed solution. We hope to share further updates as we progress through the feasibility period.
We would like to express our thanks to the Department and the Minister for their support, and look forward to working closely with AUSTRAC and the ACIC over the coming weeks. Further information can be found on the official BRII page maintained by the Department.
